Responsibilities;
- Organize and coordinate the successful end-to-end movement of cargo through the base
- Pro-actively adjust appropriate resources and equipment for day-of operations
- Communicate clearly with all airline and other stakeholders including Transport Canada
- Conduct cargo warehouse and ramp quality assurance audits related to the safe and efficient movement and handling of cargo
- Accept, load, unload, and release cargo in accordance with airline and Transport Canada requirements including verification of documents and physical cargo security searches.
- Accurately prepare airway bills, liability waivers, and other documents required for the shipping of air cargo along with appropriate updates to the carrier’s cargo system
- Verify weights and dimensions of cargo shipments to ensure appropriate billing and weight/balance planning
- Ensure customers have appropriate packaging to ensure safe delivery during air travel
- Ensure cargo is stored and segregated in accordance with air carrier and Transport Canada guidelines
- Monitor daily shipment reservations and schedules to verify that items were picked up or delivered at the designated times with correct route information
- Transport cargo to/from flights as required
- Provide exemplary customer service to cargo customers
- Ensure strict adherence to all airline and Transport Canada cargo regulations
- Ensure airline procedures are followed in line with the rules and regulations of Transport Canada
Qualifications;
- Minimum 2-years' aviation ground handling or customer service experience
- Previous cargo or logistics experience an asset
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage in a fast-based and highly regulated environment
- Ability to make critical decisions with limited supervision
- Strong communication, detail orientation, and organization skills
- Must be able to hold a valid Restricted Area Pass (RAIC) or Security for access to secure areas of the airport
- Must possess or be able to obtain an AVOP (D/A) to be able to drive on the ramp
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Physical ability to consistently lift 70 lbs/32kgs
- Must have on call availability
- Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather
- Must always use all appropriate safety equipment and clothing
- Personal flexibility to work shift work which could include early mornings, days, late evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Must have a strong commitment to exemplary customer service
